The Plaka district of of Athens.

The Plaka is what Athens has to offer as it’s old town. It’s marrow streets wind their way up to the Acropolis. Along the main streets you will find a huge amount of souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants. The noisy nightclubs of the 70’s have now disappeared making the overall experience more enjoyable.  Wander into the side streets you will encounter some small interesting museums and churches. The Plaka is a district that you must visit as it is probably the nicest district of Athens to stroll around.

The Plaka district is the best area to stay in Athens, you will be close to the Acropolis and many other ancient sites as well as being a short walk from the main squares of Syntagma and Monastiraki. The Plaka is also close to many other archaeological sites to see including the Tower of the Winds, within the Roman Agora,  the Monument to Lysikrates, the Temple of Olympian Zeus as well as many museums, major shopping centres and the National Gardens. There are many hotels to choose from.
